An Interview with Poppy’s Cafe

Poppy’s Café, a family business run by father, mother, daughter and granddaughter, was started about eight years ago in MARKET at the FAREWAY, a Philadelphia market. Poppy’s got its name because the owner’s grandchildren all call him “Poppy”. Poppy’s, a family-oriented business, is known for its high quality, fresh, and locally roasted coffee from La Colombe Torrefaction, a Philadelphia-based coffee company that recently teamed up with Greek yogurt maker, Chobani. Poppy’s has drip coffee, cappuccinos, lattes, espressos, teas, pies and “an array” of delicious baked goods from a local scratch bakery called Tabora Farms, located in Chalfont, Bucks County PA. Tabora Farms has been a family-owned and operated farm market for over twenty years. Poppy’s favorite part about being located in the MARKET includes the customers, the regulars, and all of the friends they have made throughout their existence in the MARKET.

Since family is so near and dear to poppy’s heart, they have a huge Easter dinner with their family every year. When interviewing Poppy’s daughter, she said the first thing that comes to mind when she thinks of Easter dinner with her family is her mother’s amazing egg salad. Poppy’s family loves spending time with one another on every holiday and every other day in between.

When asked what the family wanted to say to the customers at the MARKET, they replied that they wanted to say “thank you.” “Thank you for your continuous generosity”, Poppy’s daughter said. “It has shown that our hard work is worth the while.”
